We are so busy thinking about mathematics during College that we do not get prepared to the job market.
In my point of view a career should be built considering there (3) basis: inner skills, technical skills and external skills.
INNER SKILLS
They are related to how do we see ourselves and how much strong we can be within. Coaching and PLN is a good start to help us to know ourselves and build confidence and a purpose of life. The way we see life depends only on us.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
We develop those ones studying and practicing. We do not need to do what we like but for sure we need to like what we do. Once you figure out that, the job is something that brings us a lot of pleasure. We will be proud when solving problems and frustrated when wrong things happen. Besides that, it will be easier and rewarding to look for our own improvement.
EXTERNALL SKILLS
Some may know this one as soft skills. What I want to mean about external skills is that we need to let the world knows who we are. I believe that this one is the top neglected skill for most engineers. We don’t think about oratory, persuasion, marketing, sales and everything that is related to closing a deal. How to get a job without that?
