ASPEN HYSYS PROCESS SIMULATION LEVEL OF EXPERTISE

According to Aspentech’s learning path, currently, there are 3 levels of expertise in Aspen Hysys: Beginner, Expert and Master.
BEGINNER LEVEL IN ASPEN HYSYS
Chemical process engineers at Beginner Level are able to build, analyze, and optimize steady-state simulation models. At this level, it is possible to get the Aspen HYSYS User Certification.
An Aspen HYSYS Certified User has an in-depth understanding and practical skills required to build models and interpret results using Aspen HYSYS. Passing this exam will demonstrate your skills in building process simulations including defining the properties environment, developing flowsheets with unit operations, and utilizing available tools for analysis and reporting. This exam also demonstrates understanding of more advanced topics such as pipe segments with flow assurance, adjust and recycle operations, and troubleshooting in HYSYS.
- Build, navigate and optimize steady-state simulation models with various unit operations using best practices
- Determine the optimum operating points for a process and evaluate the performance
- Troubleshoot common convergence problems
- Debottleneck process equipment like heat exchangers, columns, pipes, and compressors.
EXPERT LEVEL IN ASPEN HYSYS
Chemical process engineers at Expert Level are able to handle complex models in Aspen HYSYS as Modeling Heavy, Oil & Gas Production and Facilities. At this level, it is possible to get the Aspen HYSYS Expert User Certification.
An Aspen HYSYS Certified expert user has in-depth understanding and practical skills required to build complex models associated to Upstream, Midstream and Safety applications, and interpret results of a simulation using Aspen HYSYS with little guidance.
Passing this exam will demonstrate your skills in modeling process simulations, including being able to use dedicated unit operations, stream analyses and fluid packages for Upstream and Midstream applications, such as using Aspen Hydraulics and Acid Gas processes. You will also demonstrate your knowledge on designing pressure relief devices using the Safety Analysis environment.
- Create and optimize complex models associated with Upstream, Midstream, Refining and Safety applications.
- Employ seamless, integrated tools for costing, energy management, safety analysis and equipment design.
- Integrate pipeline models with processing facilities to conduct what-if analyses and optimizations.
MASTER LEVEL IN ASPEN HYSYS
Aspentech does not provide certification for Master Level expertise yet, however, chemical process engineers at Master Level are expected to develop rapid flowsheets and use different HYSYS functions to build steady-state refinery process simulations. Besides that, build dynamic models to solve process design, plant operation and control problems.
- Build dynamic models to solve process design, plant operation and control problems.
- Characterize crude assays, track key petroleum properties, perform case studies, optimize, and troubleshoot refinery process units.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, and optimize Fluidized Catalytic Cracking, Catalytic Reformer, Hydrocracker reactor model using Aspen HYSYS® Petroleum Refining.

The coupon has been renewed since then, however, no one call tell long it will be available. HOW TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION FOR ASPENTECH CERTIFICATION IN 4 STEPS
Independent of your level of expertise today, you will need to get Aspentech User Certification before you can apply to Expert User. Based on that, you will find below the walkthrough for the Aspentech User Exam Certification. Once you get it, you can do the same procedure for the Aspentech Expert User certification.
STEP 1 – Choose Exam Date
Go to the Aspentech website and choose the best date for Aspen Hysys User Certification Exam and click on Register. You can use this link (Register for an Exam), or go to the Aspentech Esupport website and look for “Get Certified” and “Register” at https://esupport.aspentech.com/apex/universitycertificationhome
STEP 2 – Enter the Promo Code
On the registration page, enter the promo coupon as shown in the picture and click on “APPLY PROMOTION”.
Once the promo code is applied 150 USD discount will be added to checkout and Sub Total will be 0.00 USD.
STEP 3 – Complete Registration
The next step is to fill registration information. Once it is completed, click on CONTINUE REGISTRATION. You will be forwarded to Registration Confirmation, take a print and save the Registration ID.
STEP 4 – Confirm Registration
Aspentech will show you a summary for review. If all information is correct, click on CONFIRM REGISTRATION.
Aspentech does not provide automatic email with registration confirmation. Each application is verified and if there is no issue with the registration, around 1 week before the exam date, Aspentech will get in touch by email with instructions.
If your application has some issue, usually Aspentech gets in touch to inform you that the application was not successful.
PREPARATION FOR THE EXAM
